Mind Meld

PictureMaster Mind-Melder Gracie
When my Corgi Gracie wants something, she catches my eye and stares intently until I respond.  This biped-controlling strategy perfected by clever canines is called mind-meld.  Our close relationship enables Gracie to communicate her thoughts without words and me to seemingly think like my dog.

My parents had often admonished the teen-aged me that my behavior reflected the attitudes of my friends. The total trueness of their claim became clear when I began teaching middle school. Whom students chose to pal with, the shows and movies they watched, the celebrities they idolized, the hobbies and pasttimes they immersed themselves in -- good or bad -- were revealed in what they said and did.

I haven't outgrown this. What I feed my brain through my senses melds into the core of my character. Food for thought as I consider a nutritional plan of deliberate choices:  the Mind-Meld Diet.

The work you've put into polishing your writing craft shows. The last paragraph, "...a nutritional plan of deliberate choices..." WOW !!!!!!!!

This 150 words or less is turning out to be more beneficial to me than I anticipated, Bonannie. That's not many words; I have to work to express what I want to say without going over my self-imposed limit! Thanks for the encouragement. 😊

Thanks, Natine, for giving a name to that thing Jack does to us constantly. Now I know it's not just a contest of who can stare the longest without blinking. Kidding aside, great words of wisdom here!

Thanks, Dee Dee. I actually learned an entire new (to me) canine-related vocabulary when I started the Corgi page. Frap, sploot, flame, satellite dishes, Corgi pants, snooperviser...some, like mind meld, are certainly not limited to Corgis! 😋

Home has the mind-meld down pat - I'm catching up! So true about influences - food for mental thought, indeed!

Hadn't considered that cats mind meld, Shel. Maybe Homer doesn't know he's a cat! 😁
