Disordered Alignment

Yesterday I was settled into my bedroom reading corner when I caught sight of the bed. An urge to toss my book aside, leap up, and straighten the bedding engulfed me; how could I focus on reading in the face of such misalignment?

I'm predisposed - passed down from both sides of the family - to be a bit...anal. Okay, maybe more than a bit. I set my yoga mat to be exactly parallel with the lines of the tile floor. I keep paperwork in labeled notebooks (with matching labels.) The toilet paper rolls over the top, the flatware has designated areas in the drawer... I like order. I crave order. I need order.

I tried to continue reading. I kept looking at the bed. I took the picture. Finally I left to read in another room.

Today I laundered the bedding and remade the bed. Order is restored.

LOL! I don't think I'm quite as... structured (I prefer that to anal :-) as you, but, yes, that crooked bedspread would've driven me crazy. And I truly thought I was the only person who had to have my pilates mat running perfectly parallel with the lines on the floor! If it isn't aligned, I feel crooked the whole time I'm exercising. Btw, love the new picture!

Hahahahaha, Dee Dee. I may have used the word "structured" had I thought of it. Glad you like the picture. I am still not comfortable looking at my big old face on the site, but I felt the time had come to take ownership. It's only been three years... ;-)

Ditto, the picture is a nice touch. While I too prefer my TP to roll from the top I remember my sister Nancy's response to one of those silly tests that decides personality based on over/under. "Heavens, I'm just glad there is TP."

Oh, good one, Bonannie! And a good point. But I am my mother's daughter in that regard, and she feels less than a case of back-up TP is not enough. HAHAHAHAHAAHA...

Clearly the gene skipped me. Except for the folded towels. In the midst of my chaotic world, the folds of the towels MUST be aligned!

I thought of mentioning the gene-skipping thing, Shel, but I couldn't fit it in within my 150-word limit. Hahahahahahahaha...

When you have some time, would you PLEASE come and organize my paperwork?? 😬

Of course, Kate! Organizing someone else's stuff is way more fun than doing my own! ;-)

HAHA.Maybe you can pass some of your "structure" down to me!! As i type at my desk I have just enough space for my arms to sit without bumping into my "To Do" piles! I have concluded that I must have senior ADD because I can always find something to distract me from those pesky piles!!

The first secret, Gin, is to move those to-do piles somewhere else. The illusion of organization helps - hahahahahaha...

I'm not quite as anal (I use the word often) as I once was, but in my heyday I would have put you and your structuredness to shame. I do believe I tried, at one time, to put all of the leaves on our maple tree in order. Yes, I was bad...but I'm MUCH better now. ;)
