As of today, I've moved 23 items into the give-away basket, so I'm ahead of the game - for now. My granddaughter's coming this week, so some of the giveaways are cosmetics. Logic tells me "How many green eye pencils does one need?" Seriously. I wear make-up maybe four days of seven. Unless someone is comparing the greens on my hand, they look the same when they're on my eyes. Colored polish? IF I wear polish (requires maintenance!) at all, it's always barely tinted. Time to lighten the cosmetic clutter.

Today is Day 44 of the challenge. I've lightened up by 75 items (or groups of items) so far. It's interesting that it doesn't seem like that many things. I don't really see a noticeable difference, which is actually encouraging. At some point I also need to clean out computer clutter. Files, folders, and stuff that is no longer needed. That might be a whole year in itself! Happy to report I'm having no problem keeping my item journal up-to-date either. All good.

Today is Day 104. My current give-away total is 130, so I'm still ahead of the game! That total doesn't include paper -- LOTS of paper! I've shredded reams of stuff in the past few months, including checks that dated back to the 1990s. If I counted each document and check, my count would probably be in the 1000s. But counting paper seemed like, well...cheating somehow. I'm still documenting, and that in itself provides some satisfaction. Moving forward!

Today is Day 227. I updated my challenge list on March 1, and I had given away/tossed/donated 227 items. I've been asked to write about my challenge for the blog FatBottomFiftiesGetFierce - I'm so excited! - so I logged in to update my progress, and I see I am exactly even! A part of me wants to quickly chuck a few more items to make this look more impressive. However, what I've been doing is actually working. I toss in spurts, after subtracting for new things in. And I keep up with the log. I'm more than half way to success!
Day 362 and I'm DONE! Actually I was over the top on May 28th, with the removal of 441 items from my closets, cupboards, and home. I've amazed even myself! Since then, I've been on two trips and, of course, have accumulated some new clothes and items. BUT my habit of one-in-one-out is pretty much ingrained, and I continue to remove clothes and items from my closets, cupboards, and home.
So, what's next? Well, beginning this August I will begin attacking PAPER and E-FILE CLUTTER! Let the games begin! |
